Screenwriting News

Not sure if I'm going to get into the screenwriting news business. I'm just testing the waters here, but ya know, I read so much, I'm tempted to share it with all of you. I may do this once a week.

Alice in Wonderland... with machine guns. Ya know, I was going to write something similar. I guess I can scratch THAT baby off my list.

Star Trek XI to be titled... Star Trek. How original. Not only THAT, but imagine (per this article) Matt Damon playing Captain Kirk, Gary Sinise as Dr. McCoy, and Adrien Brody as Spock. Shoot me now...

John August to write Shazam! Movie featuring Captain Marvel. Ugh.

Forest Gump 2 Back in Development? See also this article in which Forest Gump is supposed to apparently meet Tom Hanks!

The Incredibles 2?

Shoot Minnie Shoot to hit the big screen. Official site here. "Minnie Burton was a sensation at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair: the top shooter for a girl's basketball team from an Indian School in Fort Shaw, Montana. Beating all other high school girls and boys teams, they rounded up legions of adoring fans across the nation as they won the first world championship title for basketball. Shoot Minnie Shoot, a novel by Happy Jack Feder, has been optioned and is in development for feature film production by the Seattle office of creative and production company, Touch."

Top Writing Honor going to Michael Arndt. "Michael Arndt has been selected by the American Screenwriters Association (ASA) to receive ASA’s prestigious Discover Screenwriting Award. The award honors a writer who, perhaps for the first time, had his or her screenplay produced into a feature film or movie for television, which received wide distribution or broadcast, and, in the opinion of our Board of Directors, reflects the highest levels of artistic achievement in screenwriting..."

I know! Shoot me now...

I'm sick to death of sequels. The thing that really kills me is the idea of Matt Damon playing Captain Kirk, etc. Ugh. Why won't it just die?

Or at least DO SOMETHING ORIGINAL.

Sigh...
